FERN PARK SMALL GROUPS DIRECTOR

Purpose of the Job: 

The Fern Park Small Groups Director helps every person find belonging and grow spiritually by building a healthy groups culture at the Fern Park campus. This role executes the central framework locally, ensuring groups are thriving relationally and spiritually while developing leaders and supporting their ongoing care. The Director bridges the gap between Central strategy and the unique culture of Fern Park by implementing systems and strategies, championing vision, and creating simple pathways for people to connect, be discipled, and take next steps in community.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Recruit, train, and care for Small Group Coordinators at the Fern Park campus, including weekly communication and monthly one-on-ones.       

  • Recruit, train, and care for Small Group leaders at Fern Park by implementing central care and leadership development systems.

  • Conduct regular meetings with the Campus Pastor.

  • Manage Planning Center data for group signups, attendance, and feedback.

  • Oversee semester launches, including leader interviews and group registrations.

  • Order and manage materials (manuals, banners, supplies) in collaboration with Central.

  • Track and report group health, leader engagement, and attendance trends at Fern Park.

  • Communicate needs and feedback to the Campus Pastor and Central Director.

  • Support all campus services and major events.

Other Duties and Requirements: 

  • Participate in key church events and provide leadership support for small group initiatives, campus engagement, and team development as needed.

  • This role is vital to the instruction of our students that participate in Journey College of Ministry. We expect all staff to lead a curriculum rotation during school semesters whenever possible. 

  • Ensure cross communication among departments as it relates to areas of Small Groups. 

Qualifications: 

  • Ability to learn and implement systems in a way that reflects the culture, rhythms, and needs of the Fern Park campus.

  • Understanding of Journey Church’s mission, values, and small group culture, with a willingness to champion and model them locally.

  • Relational leader who builds trust, communicates with clarity, and engages in honest conversations that help people grow.

  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, equip, and support leaders to build healthy teams and small groups.

  • Organized, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to manage details, follow through, and support ministry initiatives week-to-week.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant ministry, leadership, or volunteer experience may substitute.
