Central Outreach Director

Position Summary:

The Central Outreach Director leads and owns the ministry frameworks for local outreach, ministry partnerships, and global missions across all Journey Church campuses, ensuring alignment with Journey’s vision, standards, and strategy. This role builds scalable systems, develops and multiplies leaders, and drives consistency across campuses. They oversee central outreach initiatives, global missions strategy, and disaster response. The Central Outreach Director also stewards relationships with givers and financial leaders, connecting them to the impact of their generosity and creating pathways for deeper engagement. They directly lead key teams and partner with Campus Pastors and leadership to drive clarity, alignment, and high-level decision-making across all outreach and missions expressions.

  • Givers & Financial Leaders (Legacy Team) are informed, celebrated, and can “feel” the difference they’re making in individuals, in Orlando, and across the world. Environments, communications, and “hands on” opportunities are curated to celebrate that impact, and partner with Journey further.

  • Benevolence training and systems are updated and facilitated to partner with Campus Pastors and those in need.

Core Responsibilities

  • Ministry Framework & Alignment (Church-Wide)

    • Build and maintain the ministry framework for Local Outreach, Global Missions, Prison Ministry, and Translation Ministry.

    • Define and update standards, systems, and language in “team books” (3 team books: local outreach, benevolence, & prison ministry) – and for all campuses (written for Campus Pastors & Outreach coordinators)

    • Ensure campus execution aligns with Journey’s values and ministry excellence.

    • Train Campus Pastors to assess, approve/deny, and care for benevolence requests.

    • Oversee Benevolence budget and the system to manage requests and handoffs between Campus Pastors and Finance fulfilling requests.

    • Provide ongoing training to all campus outreach directors.

    • Review campus feedback and adapt frameworks to strengthen health and impact.

    • Ensure consistent data collection, metrics, reporting, and story gathering across all campuses.

    • Prepare and share stories for all communication purposes w\ Campus Pastors, Mar-Comm, and Lead Pastor (highlights, donor development, and social media)

    Local Outreach Strategy

    • Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations (vision alignment, tours with givers and dreamteamers, communication).

    • Approve new local outreach projects and initiatives.

    • Oversee Generosity Stories: Collect Testimonies\Data → Create Stories → Share stories.

    • Support campus teams with vision, clarity, and problem-solving, as well as stepping in to fill gaps whenever a campus director is over capacity or not available.

    • Provide oversight for emergency or rapid-response initiatives (disaster relief, shutdowns, hurricanes, or crisis needs).

    • Shepherd and support teams such as Journey in the Jail (vision, approval, budget, support).


    Lead the Prison Ministry Coordinator

    • Program Development & Coordination

      • Plan, implement, and evaluate prison ministry programs, worship services, and Bible studies.

      • Coordinate ministry schedules in compliance with correctional facility policies.

      • Maintain consistent communication with prison administrators and chaplains.

    • Volunteer Recruitment & Management

      • Recruit, train, screen, and supervise volunteers.

      • Provide spiritual leadership, guidance, and ongoing support to ministry volunteers.

      • Ensure volunteers meet all background check and security requirements.

    • Spiritual Care & Outreach

      • Facilitate or support worship services, teachings, prayer, and one-on-one spiritual counseling.

      • Encourage faith development, restoration, and hope among incarcerated individuals.

      • Support families of incarcerated individuals through referrals and resources.

    • Administration & Compliance

      • Maintain accurate records, attendance logs, volunteer documentation, and reports.

      • Ensure compliance with institutional regulations, safety protocols, and confidentiality standards.

      • Assist with budgeting, fundraising efforts, and resource management as needed.

    • Community & Reentry Support

      • Partner with churches, nonprofits, and reentry programs to support successful reintegration.

      • Coordinate post-release follow-up and discipleship opportunities.

      • Advocate for restorative justice and community awareness initiatives.


    Givers (Donors) & Financial Leaders (Legacy Team / High-Capacity Givers)

    • Build and lead a centralized strategy to develop and steward relationships with givers and financial leaders; working with the A-Team & Generosity Team (a specialized part of A-Team), Programming Team, and Campus Pastors.

    • Ensure givers are consistently connected to the impact of their generosity through storytelling, communication, and curated engagement opportunities. Providing testimonies of life change.

    • Create and maintain rhythms of communication, appreciation, and personal touchpoints (updates, events, gatherings, and follow-ups) with high capacity and checking in with A-Team on their rhythms to look for improvements. 

    • Develop environments and experiences that allow givers to “see and feel” the impact of their giving locally and globally with our Events Director.

    • Oversee donor appreciation initiatives, annual events, and strategic gatherings that foster community and partnership.

    • Partner with Campus Pastors, Finance, and leadership to ensure alignment in donor communication, care, and engagement.

    • Identify and develop pathways for high-capacity givers to engage more deeply in the mission and vision of Journey.


    Lead the Missions Director

    Their responsibilities would include:

    • Leading Church-wide Outreach Events: (Back to School Bash, Serve Week, Operation Christmas Child, future planned events.)

      • Approve vision, projects, budgets, and timelines involved in planning.

      • Oversee systems, Planning Center setup, and volunteer structures.

      • Ensure purchasing, logistics, creative requests, and promotion align with the strategy.

      • Partner with Events, Creative, Production, and Marketing for promotion and communications.

      • Ensure leaders are recruited, trained, and supported for all major events.

    • Own the Global Missions Strategy & Execution

      • Build and maintain missionary relationships with continual communication.

      • Approve projects, partnerships, and financial allocations.

      • Oversee fundraising expectations, budgets, and giving priorities.

      • Provide vision, training, and systems for global mission trips.

      • Train and support trip leaders (agenda, budget, fundraising, preparation, care).

      • Oversee Missions Small Groups and team discipleship pathways.

      • Lead Missions Expo and training events (National & International).

      • Oversee Managed Missions platform and financial stewardship.

      • Manage post-trip debrief, discipleship pathways, and mobilization.

    • Interpretation (SPA + ASL) 

      • Oversee ASL and SPA interpretation on Sundays 

      • Communication with Guest Experience

      • Communication with Production 

      • Translation equipments

      • Making other non-Sunday events accessible to these communities upon request 

      • SPA - Spanish Corner

      • Care for and resource SPA and ASL interpretation coordinators.  

    Team Leadership Development & Oversight

    Oversee, develop, and multiply key leaders across outreach and missions:

    • Prison Ministry Coordinator (Journey in the Jail)

    • Missions Coordinator

    • Campus Outreach (Local Outreach/Missions) Directors

    • Outreach Administrator

    • Legacy Coordinator

    Ensure each leader:

    • Operates with clear vision, expectations, and defined ownership

    • Is equipped with systems, tools, and resources to lead effectively

    • Is developed through intentional coaching, feedback, and leadership pathways

    • Maintains a healthy workload and sustainable pace of ministry

    • Functions within a clear team structure with delegated ownership aligned to growth

    • Builds and maintains a leadership pipeline by identifying, developing, and empowering emerging leaders across all outreach and missions teams.

    Communication & Administration

    • Create, refine, and maintain playbooks, standards, and team books as systems evolve, ensuring that systems are better, and not just different. 

    • Ensure Planning Center (for Missions or Outreach Events) is accurate, organized, and aligned with overall strategy and reporting needs 

    • Ensure creative requests are submitted to Creative (shirts, signage, media, promotions) for alignment and quality.

    • Collaborate w\ Creative for social media strategy and delegation across outreach and missions expressions

    • Manage reporting systems, metrics, surveys, evaluations, and follow-up processes for continuous improvement

    • Identify and implement system improvements to increase clarity, efficiency, and scalability across ministries
