Central Production Lighting Director

Summary:
• LD oversees the lighting systems at Journey Church (“Journey”) Central and local
campuses, as well as oversee lighting operation and team development.
Experience and Knowledge Required:
• Three (3) years’ experience in lighting production environment
• Intermediate MAC and PC proficiency
• Basic understanding of lighting design software (specifically Vectorworks) is preferred
• Familiarity with pre-visualization software (such as Light Converse, MA3d, Vision, etc.)
is preferred
• Intermediate understanding of lighting consoles (specifically High End HOG4,
GrandMA2, and ETC Smartfade)
• Familiarity with computer software like ProPresenter is preferred, but not required
• Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
• Relational and team-building skills required
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve quickly
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Oversee the programming of lighting cues, creation service visuals, and operation of
lighting equipment for regular weekly services and special events at all campuses.
• Assist with the maintenance and management of lighting systems at Fern Park,
including: updating hardware, software, and equipment firmware; regular cleaning and
maintaining fixtures and equipment; and hanging and removing of damaged lighting
fixtures for repair
• Assist in creation of lighting look sheets and programming guides for services and
special events that would be distributed to other campuses
• Select jumpback and graphic content for weekend services and distribute that
information to campuses
• Oversee lighting training for Journey Leadership Academy, (JLA) Production Practicum
students; develop curriculum and training outlines, lead classes, and provide
evaluation and hands-on training/instruction at regular Chapels or other events
• Coordinate with Central Broadcast video team regarding lighting for video, including
color/white balancing, event programming, and stage wash metering
• Oversee lighting DT, including training and scheduling
• Travel to extension campuses to observe services/events, assist with equipment
maintenance or training, and attend meetings as needed
• Assist in the repair of damaged lighting fixtures and equipment
• Assist in campus lighting projects as needed, including: system installations,
upgrades, and repairs, to ensure high levels of quality, preparation, and
interdepartmental communication; coordination with other departments; scheduling
and attending meetings; liaising with contractors and host venues; and coordinating
site visits with vendors as needed
• Liaise with audio, broadcast, worship, and IT departments regarding any potential
troubleshooting needs, event scheduling/staffing, and equipment operation or training
• Assist in department training sessions for Dream Teamers.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist with lighting or production equipment setup and operation for services and
events at any campus as needed
• Assist other departments with lighting and/or lighting equipment support
• Participate in church wide events

Physical Demands:
• Assist with setup or operation of production equipment as needed
• Equipment repair, maintenance, or installation at all campuses as needed
• Regular travel to Fern Park campus for meetings
• The ability to drive their personal vehicle
• Able to work safely at height above stages and auditoriums
